How to love and embrace all of who you are?!

As human beings, we all have parts of ourselves that we try to hide from the world, because we believe that these parts are unlovable. Because we believe these parts of who we are aren’t worthy of love, we try to bury them deep inside, under layers of mental and emotional armour, with the hope that no one will ever find out the truth about who we are. When we bury these parts of ourselves we also bury the gifts that they bring into our lives.

One of my own personal experiences of this comes from my childhood. As a child, I was constantly exposed to my father’s physical power, strength and ability to endure physical and emotional pain and not show it. I always thought he was superman and deep down I wanted to be like him in every way I could. So, I spent much of my childhood and teenage years trying to embody these aspects of my father, as a way of connecting with him and receiving his love and approval. As a result, I became extremely competitive with my younger brothers in sports, to prove that I was the strongest, the fastest and the toughest. The problem with this was, that the more I worked at being tougher and stronger the more I buried and disconnected to the part of me that was soft, weak and emotionally sensitive.

The message and core belief I lived by, was that being strong, tough and not expressing your emotions equals good; while being seen as weak, soft and emotional was bad. The very thing that got me love and approval from my dad and my peers was the very thing that shut me off from the gifts of the soft, weak and emotionally sensitive part of me. When I was finally able to love and embrace the soft, emotionally sensitive part of myself, I saw how this part of me was responsible for my greatest strengths as a human being. It was the source of my empathy, intuition and my love for helping people heal their lives. When we have the courage to love and embrace the parts of ourselves that we dislike, we automatically give permission to the people around us to do the same.

At my advanced workshop, called The Heart of Emotional Courage, coming up on the 21st and 22nd of April 2018, I invite you to embark on your journey to discovering your emotional courage!

Horses offer you a window to the unconscious aspects of your being, while gently encouraging you to reconnect, embrace and nurture these hidden aspects. When you have the courage to embrace and love all of who you are, you open the door to healing and powerful transformation.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • How to love and embrace the hidden and denied aspects of yourself and find the gifts and wisdom they contain
  • How to shift the limiting beliefs, habits and negative emotions that get in the way of self-love
  • How to embody the principles of emotional courage in your daily life with practical exercises and processes
  • How your deeply held beliefs create the way you experience life
  • Powerful processes that transform your relationships with the people in your life
  • How to utilise emotional courage to embrace the challenges your life presents
  • How to turn your vulnerabilities into powerful opportunities for growth and healing

“I attended SkerrettEquine’s last workshop and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone from any walk of life, who wants to enrich their lives. I have spent the majority of my life not really knowing who I am and I now feel have turned a corner after going to Ben’s workshop and am on the road to becoming a more authentic person. It helped that I love horses, but anyone, even non-horsey people benefit from this course. Simple, but life changing stuff!!” Sandy Nicholson
